  • What is DECA?
Collegiate DECA is a career development organization that enables students, of all majors, with the skill sets and experience needed to advance in leading industries. The organization prepares leaders and entrepreneurs for careers and education in marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and other business areas..
  • Why DECA?
Collegiate DECA allows you to transfer the information you gain in college into a real world career experience. Your involvement in Collegiate DECA builds the skill sets and leadership knowledge you need to stand out in a competitive job field. Plus you can develop lifelong meaningful friendships and grow your network!
  • How do I join?
Prospective members can join Austin Collegiate DECA anytime throughout the year via an application process (apply here!), however prospective members will only be considered as official members once they pay chapter dues. Check below for questions relating to how much dues cost and how to pay them. We encourage members to attend the info-sessions to get an idea of what DECA is, especially at the Collegiate level, and to understand what Austin Collegiate DECA stands for as a chapter. If you cannot make any of the info-sessions, show up to a general meeting and talk to the officers!
  • What is my role as a member?
Members are required to attend as many meetings and events as possible, because participation in these will help members build their professional skill-set and compete at state and ICDC. Competition is not required, but competing provides members with a great way to experience a real-world business scenario. If a member does not compete at state, then the member will not qualify for ICDC.

As of Fall 2018, chapter dues will be $50 for the fall semester. This covers dues for one semester and not the entire year. For year-long membership, returning members will pay $20 to cover spring dues. New members in the spring semester will pay $50. Chapter dues excludes fees for state competition and for the international career development conference (ICDC). State and ICDC fees will be vary year to year depending on funding.
